Ian and Alex – while you are both too young to appreciate
the true meaning behind these words, I want you both to know that you are the
light of my life. Your laughs, your
smiles, your silliness, your energy, even your tears and the challenges you
bring to my life have brought me the greatest sense of joy and contentment I
have ever known or could hope for.
Ian – you have such an infectious and enthusiastic
personality and you have a unique ability to find joy in everything from going
on a fun family outing to scrubbing toilets with mommy. It has been with ever-increasing parental
pride that I have watched you grow over the last year, start school, and just
learn and learn and learn like a little sponge.
Alex – my little fighter!
No one is ever going to be able to hold you back when you’ve set your
mind on something – you just wait world!
I have loved watching your little personality begin to shine through
over the last year and your smiles, kisses, cuddles – and your wonderful hugs –
have been the most welcome things to come home to each night.
David – I know I don’t say this enough, but I appreciate
everything you do for me and for the boys.
You are a good man, a kind and ultra-supportive husband and a wonderful,
patient, loving father. It is such a
comfort with my often crazy and unpredictable schedule that I have you there to
cover me, support me and be there whenever I need you. I’m so grateful to have you in my life.
Mom – Words cannot express the depth of gratitude I have for
you for enthusiastically taking on the challenge of caring for my two energetic
boys and for the impeccable job that you do with them. They would not be the boys they are without
your loving, guiding, nurturing hand. It
makes me even more grateful for the action of that same hand in my life, and
for all the work you did, sacrifices you made and challenges you overcame to
ensure that I had a strong beginning in life.
Dad – you continue to be one of the most influential people
in my life, providing me, as you always have, with a shining example of the
type of person I want to be. From your
strong work ethic, your tireless resolve to always go the extra mile to ensure
a job is done right, to the way you managed to balance your work and home lives,
I draw on your inspiration daily.
Nan – You have always been to me the epitome of what it
means to be a truly kind-hearted person.
Your patience and gentle guidance are traits I aspire to emulate while
raising my own boys. I’m also continually impressed by your
willingness to try new things – like travelling to Malaysia and winning races –
you are truly a role model for the type of person I hope to be at 84.
Jenn – Your heart is so big and your emotions so genuine-
you are just glowing these days! You are going to make such a wonderful
mother - with your capacity to love and nurture and give of yourself - your
Little Elliott is so lucky, and I'm so happy that I'm going to have the
opportunity to see you in action first hand, and to be able to continue to rely
on you for the emotional boosts you always seem to give me just when I need them.
Laura – My baby sister, but in so many ways my friend and
confidant, and someone I admire and look up to. Thank you for being an
always open, patient and sympathetic ear whenever I need to debrief after a
frustrating or emotional case, or about anything else that's going on in my
life. I also wish you and John a heartfelt congratulations on your
engagement – I know you will make each other very happy.
Terry – You are one of the most caring, loving, selfless
people I know. If you can help – you do
help, and do so without hesitancy or reservation. You are one of the least judgemental people I
know and have passed that trait onto your son – one of the things I love most
about him. You are amazing with my boys
and they love you to pieces. I truly hope
I can be as fantastic a mother-in-law to my boy’s wives as you have been to
me.
Gerry- While your exterior may be gruff at times, I have
seen too much evidence of your soft heart not to see past it. You clearly and dearly love your children and
go to extreme lengths, expenses and devote much of your time to ensuring their
success and happiness, and by extension I have benefitted from that generosity
on many occasions. I want you to know I
truly appreciate everything you have done and continue to do for me and my
family.
To all the other amazing and supportive family and friends in my life - I thank you all for being there for me, for having fun with me and for being the kind and wonderful people you are.
Happy New Year Everyone!
Love Amanda
